My Story

Posted by FriskyRidgewood in Moving Forward after Divorce

“The tiniest story in your life can deeply touch another.  You cannot know the effect your story might have.  Please let your stories be heard.”  SARK in Succulent Wild Women

Sometimes in our midlife divorce marathons, we tell our story too much to too many people who have heard enough.  But one of the constants in real recovery is that women, especially, need to talk.  And then we need to talk some more.  We need to tell our story and get validation or recognition to try to make sense of what’s happening.  We need a listening ear.  Most of our friends and our family will listen politely and even compassionately for a while and those who are close to us will let us talk more than others.  But the best listeners are those who are going through the same struggles and frustrations and aggravations we are.  That’s why places like the R.A.D.I.C.A.L. Women Network are so important.  It’s a place women are definitely interested and definitely empathetic.  It’s also a place where women will say, “That worked for me.”  “Or I don’t think that’s a good idea.”  Or simply, “You go, girl!!” And even though we have these amazingly close bonds on the site, it’s not a place where anyone else is going to “hear” us and we don’t have to worry about comments getting back to our wasbands or our children or anyone else.  And because of our stage names we can be fairly anonymous.  Like SARK said even your smallest story can touch another life. I absolutely love the way the R.A.D.I.C.A.L. Women pick each other up.  There is never any judging or criticizing or rolling the eyes or shaking of heads, because we’re all on the same road. It’s one of the most inspiring, uplifting, honest places of growth through adversity that I have ever been a part of.  And I am so proud of every single woman who is sharing her story.   Your words may be just exactly what someone else needs to hear.  And with God so much a part of this, those “coincidences” show up all the time!  Call me today and I can sign you up for your FREE month.  816-941-4911.  You can cancel any time … but in all honesty I think you will find you can't do without it.  Plus, we’re all going to get together somewhere in 2010, and you don't want to miss that!

“A story is a medicine that greases and hoists the pulleys, shows us the way out, down, in and around, cuts for us fine wide doors in previously blank walls, doors which lead us to our own knowing.”  Clarissa Pinkola Estes
