"You have to be very clear what you want in order to succeed." Hezelle Goodman, Actress, Comedienne, Motivational Speaker
What do you want? I mean, just for today, what do you want? Forget about tomorrow. Forget about next week. Forget about next year. What do you want for this 24 hours? Know what I want? I want the famous "big three" that everyone wants. Peace, joy and love. Can I do anything right now that will give me those three things? Yes. I can be at peace about where I am this very moment. By myself or in a meeting. At work or at home. Running errands or running a business. I can choose to be at peace today. I can choose to put worry, doubt, and fretting off until another time. Even though we are getting back to work, use today as a vacation-from-worry day. I can also choose joy. I can make a list of 10 things I can be joyful about this very moment. In every single thing you're doing today, find something that you can be joyful about in that experience. If you’re going to court, be joyful about the fact that you have two good legs to walk into the courtroom. If you have to get your house ready to sell, be joyful about the fact that where you live doesn’t determine your happiness; you do. Choose to do whatever you have to do today with a joyful heart. And then, always, always we can choose love. Today, don't fret about whether anyone else chooses to love or not. That's their business. You alone can make that powerful choice for yourself. People throughout history have recognized the freedom of choosing love in the worst circumstances. Victor Frankl understood that his Nazi captors could not take that from him. Love your children. Love your grandchildren. Love your friends. Love your neighbor. Love the person at the grocery store or the ice cream place. Choose to love every single person you come in contact with today. Say in your heart. “I choose to love you today and I wish you well.” You can have the desires of your heart today. God guarantees it. So be very, very clear about what it is you want. Peace, joy and love are good places to start.
"Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalms 37:4
