"'Listen up,' he admonishes. 'We got hot dogs and cheeseburgers.  That's trash.  That's not warrior food.  I want you to load up on salad, understand?  We ain't eating no cookies, understand?"'  Sgt. Carey at lunch at Marine Boot Camp

Since I've been doing Midlife Divorce Recovery Boot Camps, I've started reading about real boot camps ... about the most real boot camps around ... Marine Corps boot camps.  I've discovered one thing ... there are no excuses at boot camp!  Comments like, "but I'm really sad, I just neeeeed a cookie!" don't work.  "I'll start eating warrior food tomorrow, Sir!" doesn't work, either.  "I'll just have a little bit of junk food," might get you extra K.P. duty.  In the Marine Corps, you get strong.  You get healthy.  You get fit.  You get confident.  You get powerful.  Because there are no excuses.  You want to be a Marine, so you do what they tell you.  They have been doing this long enough to know that discipline gets results.  They know that you have to work at getting strong.  They know you have to say no to things that make you weak and flabby.  External discipline comes first.  Then self-discipline takes over.  You want to get strong and trim and fit?  Give up the excuses!  Getting your life in order in the Marines starts with getting your physical self in control and that means doing what's good for your body.  It's the same with you ... start by doing what's good for your body right now.  No excuses!  Fall is when  people start thinking of comfort food.  Instead let's all think of power food. By holiday season, we'll be feeling strong and looking great and we won't have to put "go on a diet" on our list of new year's resolutions.  Be a warrior woman starting today!  No excuses!!!

"A person without self control is like a house with its door and windows knocked out."  Proverbs 25:28 (NIV)
