“I don’t think jogging is healthy, especially morning jogging. If morning joggers knew how tempting they looked to morning motorists, they would stay home and do sit-ups!” ~ Rita Rudner
We Can All Get Fit
One of our local RADiCAL groups discussed the Get Strong chapter last night. We talked about the importance of getting physical control of our bodies as one of the building blocks to creating the life we want in our future.
The healthy, fit women on the covers of magazines make us envious. Some of us think we can never look like that or it would take too long, and we don’t have time.
But the truth is, WE CAN ALL GET FIT! We don’t have to be obsessive about it, but the cold hard fact is that if we get on a consistent program of walking, even, we feel more confident, look better and feel better. And it’s a good example for those who care about us.
This Is The Only Body We’ve Got
That brings us back to the joggers. Sometimes, don’t you both admire them and are vaguely irritated at them. I think it’s because they are doing what you know you should be doing.
They are taking care of their body, and frankly, most of them look good. Some may be just be getting started and still have a way to go, irregardless, they have the discipline to get out there.
Sally Fields used to say in her commercial about strong bones that, “This is the only body I’ve got …”. That’s true and when we embrace that understanding and take care of ourselves, everything goes better.
When we eat right and drink enough water and get enough exercise, we start looking better and feeling better.
Stay Strong
I always feel better after I exercise. I feel stronger and more powerful and more in control of myself and my life. In divorce especially, there are so many things we cannot control… like what other people are doing. But we can control ourselves.
So I’m going to keep doing things to stay strong! Whether I go outside and walk or jog and breathe in the clean, crisp air today or make a trip downstairs to the Bowflex machine, I’m going to spend at least 30 minutes today pumping up this amazing body of mine. What are you going to do?
“… God is strong and he wants you strong.” ~ Ephesians 6:10 (The Message)
