“Money is God in action.” Raymond Charles Barker, Author of Science of the Mind
Most of us think God doesn’t do money. That we’re on our own when it comes to money. My opinion is that God is into generosity and that most definitely includes money. Just think about all of the generosity that is possible when good people use their money in godly ways. Look at all the people you can help by being a conduit of God’s generosity. Most of us seem to think that God’s only into the spiritual stuff. The thing is, everything becomes spiritual with God.
As women embroiled in midlife divorce, some of us are scared to death that we are not going to have enough money. And that is scary … in fact, it’s terrifying. But God promises that he will take care of us…. period. That means in the middle of those awful meetings with the attorneys. That means when we have lost our retirement security blanket. That means when we have to temporarily make changes in our lifestyle.
I truly believe that if we can learn to try to be like God by imitating his generosity no matter how much or how little we have, he will just keep on funneling blessings through us. Here’s what I think: When we prove to him that we aren’t hoarders … that we aren’t going to be stingy with his blessings, he sends us more to pass around. And we can stop being worried that we won’t have enough. God doesn’t want us focused on our money. He wants us focused on him and what he wants us to do.
I really like the Alcoholics Anonymous thinking: “If we take care of God’s business, he will take care of ours.” By living in confidence of God’s generous help, we tend to receive it. We aren’t bogged down with worry, anxiety, stress, or fear. We let those emotions go and learn to trust God’s promises. That’s where he wants us and where he will use us most effectively. If you can’t spread around much money right now, spread around joy, hope, love, encouragement. God will see that you are faithful with his blessings and will send you more. Believe it.
“Steep your life in God-reality, God initiative, God provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” Matthew 6:33 (The Message)
