“Every day that is born into the world comes like a burst of music and rings the whole day through, and you make of it a dance, a dirge, or a life march, as you will.” Thomas Carlyle
Fall is one of the great things about living where I live (in the MidWest – USA). We have to deal with tornadoes and hot summers and freezing winters, but Fall and Spring are exhilarating! This morning when I went out to get the paper, the moon was still out, the air was cool, the day full of promise. Thomas Carlyle’s quote above is great for any time of the year, but in the Fall especially, the day is truly like an invigorating burst of music.
No matter what divorce dragons we are facing in this day, let’s remember that we can make the day “a dance, a dirge, or a life march …” as we will. For me, I’m going to do my best to make it a dance! Go outside, lift up your arms and take in a deep, full breath and thank God that you have this day.
No matter what you have on your plate, you can make today glorious in some way or another. Even if you are going to court to figure out a financial settlement. Even if you have to talk about custody arrangements. Even if you have to sell your house. Even if you see your wasband with his girl friend, you can make YOUR day a good one. Thank God for it. Notice something beautiful about it (it’s not hard in the Fall). Do something wonderful with it. Volunteer somewhere. Encourage someone. Smile. Laugh. Move your body. Eat something you love. Celebrate this day! What’s the alternative? A dirge? No thank you. Not on this Fall day!
“This is the day that the Lord has made, Let us rejoice and be glad in it!”
Psalm 118:24 (NIV)
