“Instead of looking at life as a narrowing funnel, we can see it ever widening to choose the things we want to do, to take the wisdoms we’ve learned and create something.” ~ Liz Carpenter, Writer
When The Choice Wasn’t Our Own
Sometimes when we’re in the middle of the divorce experience, it seems as if our real choices are narrowing, that life is becoming less expansive. We often think we will never really get to make the choices we want, but that we will spend the rest of our life enduring the choices that have been forced upon us.
Our Reaction Is Our Choice
Remember that even though some things are beyond our control, we will always have the choice of how to react. We choose our attitude about what’s happening.
If we can look at the circumstances around us and learn from them and find the opportunities for refinement in them, then we can begin to create for ourselves the life we want. Wisdom is recognizing that our circumstances don’t determine our life, we do.
“How can men be wise? The only way to begin is by reverence for God. For growth in wisdom comes from obeying his laws.” ~ Psalm 111:10 (The Living Bible)
